What are disc magnets?
Neodymium disc magnets are known by many names, for example, round magnets or cylinder magnets. These extremely strong but flat magnets are available from GAUDER in various sizes and can be used in many different ways.
Disc magnets are axially magnetized. This means that the north and south poles of disc magnets are located on the round surfaces respectively. Other types of magnets are diametrically magnetized: there the poles can be found on the left and right of a vertically running line, they are diametrical magnets.
What are Neodymium Magnets?
Neodymium magnets, also called neodymium-iron-boron or NdFeB magnets for short, are very strong. Even at a small size, they can carry weights of up to 10 kg. When choosing a suitable neodymium magnet, it is important to pay attention to its magnetization, which is indicated by a letter and a number. Neodymium disc magnets, marked with N 52, are the strongest magnets, while the weakest specimens are marked with N 28.
All GAUDER magnets are solid and sturdy. In our online shop, you can rely on high-quality workmanship at an excellent price.
How and where can disc magnets be used?
Extremely strong magnets such as neodymium disc magnets are used in many everyday products and processes in industrial domains. Disc magnets are used for example
- as fasteners for clothing, bags or cell phone cases,
- in the construction of loudspeakers,
- in workshops,
- in furniture construction,
- in metal and trade fair construction,
- in offices and schools
- and in many other areas of life.

Disc magnets as teaching aids
Due to their strong holding force and practical shape, neodymium disc magnets are ideal for demonstrating the magnetic field of poles as part of teaching science classes at schools and universities. In addition to the classic horseshoe magnets or bar magnets, disc magnets can be a welcome change for teaching.
For magnetic boards and whiteboards in schools, our ferrite disc magnets are the right choice. With these disc magnets, materials can be easily and quickly attached to whiteboards to keep lessons on track.
Neodymium disc magnets from GAUDER — Your advantages at a glance
Neodymium disc magnets hold several kilograms even with the smallest contact surfaces. They are available in a wide variety of sizes and strengths. Many neodymium disk magnets have the magnetic poles on the two circular surfaces (axial magnetization), but others are diametrically polarized, i.e. the magnetization runs parallel to the diameter.
With tiny disc magnets, even small pieces of paper can be fixed to metallic surfaces. Due to their extremely high magnetization, they are used by hobbyists as well as workshops and have many applications.
They are used to attach objects to pinboards or whiteboards, to attach non-magnetic objects to metal surfaces and to close drawers or latches.
